eTextbook Initiative Featured in President’s Welcome Back Address
On May 18, 2017, I presented “Don’t Judge an eBook By its Print Edition” at West Chester University’s RECAP conference. As part of this presentation, I outlined my new initiative that would teach faculty how to create their own eTextbooks to use in place of expensive, third-party textbooks in their own courses. The first cohort was formed in the Fall of 2017, with five faculty completing and rolling out their eTextbooks during the 2018-2019 academic year. The initiative has been renewed for the 2018-2019 academic year, with seven additional faculty building eTextbooks that will be deployed in 2019-2020. I was pleased to discuss the early success of this initiative along with Constance Case, Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance and a member of the first faculty cohort, with President Chris Fiorentino at the university’s Welcome Back event on September 20, 2018.
