TWTTT an iBA Award Finalist

I’m excited and honored to pass along that my iBook, “Ten Ways Teachers Tame Twitter,” has been named a finalist for an iBooks Author Conference Award in the category Best iBook of the Year, Education (School Activities). There are a couple of reasons why I wrote the book: first and foremost, because of my interest in the subject matter, but second, I really wanted to learn more about Apple’s iBooks Author software and the process of publishing content to the iBook Store. To see this project get recognized like this goes far beyond what I ever imagined for it.

I encourage everyone to look through the entire list of nominees – it’s a great collection of educational content. In particular, I was happy to see Peter Pappas’s Multicultural Alaska History Series listed in multiple categories. Peter is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alaska Southeast and wrote an article about using a PBL approach to have his students work together to write this series. I’ve shown the article to some of my colleagues at West Chester University as an example of a class project that involves writing electronic books. Now those students have a very good chance to add “Award-winning iBook author” to their résumés.
